A smaller basket - ideal for harvesting berries or collecting the eggs from the chickens. A lot of people have been asking for a smaller basket so this is my solution - Ideal to keep in the shed to harvest those precious berries come spring (I can't wait to fill my with gooseberries)
It still has a mesh bottom like my other baskets so makes it ideal to swill things off before you bring them in the house to wash properly.
Also hung from a ceiling in a shed, pantry or kitchen its a great way of leaving things like seeds to dry. I often use mine to dry peas and beans that I am saving for seed or for winter stews.
The sides and handle are built out of reclaimed timber, so they sometimes have stamps, marks and holes, adding to the look of this basket.
The base is made from 6mm (1/4") mesh.
The wood is treated with a coat of boiled linseed oil.
It measures 25cm (9") long by 20cm (8") wide by 15cm long (6").
All sizes are approximate and do vary due to the reclaimed wood used.
The mesh bottom is strong enough for everyday use, but can obviously be dented if misused (although easy to bend straight again). I have three baskets of different sizes I've been using for around 4 years now and they all still look perfect.
Each tray is handmade to order, by me, in my workshop at the foot of the Malvern Hills. follow me on YouTube to get a flavour of what we get up to on our smallholding and how I manage to make my living making and selling craft items (as well as writing for woodworking magazines and giving talks to garden clubs).
